U2charist             Fall Stop Hunger Now Event                Pax's Picture Gallery

Our youth group, PAX, is involved in many events. Check this page for our calendar and photo galleries of our time together.

Announcements:

  • Tuesday August 5th to Wednesday August 6th will be the Diocese's first Bradford Bash. Rising 8th to 12th graders can come meet the youth from the diocese of Bradford, England. Be at St. John's Roanoke at 5 PM Tuesday, and leave at 11 AM Wednesday. Music will be provided by Sam Hensley, and there will be worship, games, and new friends to be made from across the ocean. The cost is $15. Registration forms are at the diocese youth website. Please RSVP to Aimee Bostwick at abostwick@dioswva.org if you are interested in coming.
  • Our next official meeting will be Saturday evening July 12th with the youth group from St. Stephens, Schenactady, NY for a picnic/dinner.Kathy has said she will gladly host and cook the dinner at her house if enough of Pax is interested.
  • When Meneta contacted the Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation (EGR), we learned that the MDG symbols are owned by the United Nations, and aren't to be marketed, and they probably would be on paraphernalia that would be sold. However, he did have a reguest for us:
"I would LOVE it if one of your young people could write a 500-700 word article on what the PAX group has done and, more important, how they have changed and grown as people and disciples of Christ because of it. We love stories of transformation ... and I want to share yours. We have an e-newsletter that goes out every other week to about 5,000 people across the church and I'd love to include such an article from you!"

If someone wants to volunteer, that would be great!  I think we could do this as a joint effort as well.  He did not give us a time limit, so be thinking about how your experiences in PAX, at Emmanuel, and in life have caused change growth in you, spiritually and otherwise.

What we've done:

January 25-27 Youth at Council, Roanoke: The youth packaged over 40,000 meals through the organization, Stop Hunger Now. We learned much about the MDGs or Millennium Development Goals. We also learned about an organization, ONE, where people are joining together as ONE: "one person, one voice, one vote at a time - to make a better, safer world for all." You can go to the ONE website to learn where the presidential candidates stand on issues related to eliminating world poverty, to sign the pledge, and to see what others are doing to fight world poverty.
